People change when someone stays.
Short-term help has its place, but we kept seeing the same pattern. A team arrives, does good work, and leaves, and the community is left to figure out what comes next on its own. We wanted to build something that would still be there next year, and the year after that.
In the summer of 2026, REST led its first mission trip to Ponce, Puerto Rico. Volunteers served alongside local leaders in a dental clinic and an after-school program, and something shifted for all of us. The question stopped being "how do we help this week?" and became "what happens after we leave?"
That question shapes everything we do now. It is why our after-school program, Creative Futures, keeps growing with kids into high school and adulthood. It is why we connect young adults to real jobs instead of handing out one-time help. It is why we are already planning the next trip to Ponce, and why we are building in Southern California too.
We are a Christian nonprofit, and our faith is the reason we show up. We believe every person carries God-given worth and purpose, and that the love of Jesus looks like consistency, dignity, and opportunity.
We are still early. We are building carefully, one relationship and one community at a time.

Two places, one model
- Ponce, Puerto Rico. Dental clinic, after-school programming, and community projects, with mission teams returning each year.
- Southern California. We plan to launch both Creative Futures Build and the Creative Futures after-school program here in 2027, and we are in conversations with local communities about hosting it.
What guides us
- We stay. Programs are built for years, not weeks.
- We connect. We do not try to be everything. We bring the right partners together, whether that is a clinic, an employer, or a housing community.
